Dr. Kaitlin Whelan, MD

Dr. Whelan was born in Houston, Texas and spent her childhood in Sugar Land, Texas.  She attended the University of Texas – Austin where she completed her undergraduate degree in Nutritional Sciences. While there, she realized though she loved talking about (and eating) food, she was more interested in the complexities of medicine. She then went to medical school at Baylor College of Medicine and completed her pediatrics training at University of Colorado.  Dr. Whelan chose to focus on primary care pediatrics because of the opportunity to combine preventive medicine and advocacy along with strong patient-physician relationships.

In Colorado, Dr Whelan has especially enjoyed the ability to be outside – whether hiking, snowboarding, or reading in the park.

Dr. Whelan joined Peak Pediatrics in 2019 and is honored to work together as a team with families as they navigate changes as their children grow and develop. Her practice is based on partnership with patients and families. She takes time to try to make sure care givers and kids leave with all their questions answered. She has a particular interest in treating not only physical but mental health. She has experience working with children with complex medical needs both from her medical training and working at summer camps for children with chronic medical conditions. She loves learning from her patients and getting to teach about healthy lifestyles.
